1. Information we collect
We collect personal information that you provide directly to us when your school onboards onto the Service, including:
- Account data: name, email, phone number, role (admin / teacher / parent / driver)
- Student data (provided by the school): name, grade, class, photo (optional), parent contact, pickup and drop-off address
- Trip data: GPS location of buses, pickup/drop-off times, attendance, safety events
- Communication data: messages exchanged between school, teachers, and parents through the Service
- Usage data: anonymous analytics about how the apps are used (page views, feature usage, errors)
2. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Provide the Service: real-time bus tracking, academic management, communication between school stakeholders
- Generate safety alerts (forgotten student detection, movement during boarding, speed and stop monitoring, location change detection)
- Send transactional notifications (bus arrival, attendance, grades, safety events)
- Improve the Service and develop new features
- Communicate with you about your account, security, or updates to this policy
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Children's privacy
The Service is operated for and on behalf of schools, which obtain authorisation from parents to enrol student information. Where a child is under the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction, we rely on the school as the verified institutional intermediary to obtain parental consent on our behalf.
Students do not directly create accounts. Their data is managed by their school and by their parent/guardian through the Kite Client app.
5. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as your school remains a customer of Kite-Edu. After the school's contract ends, we delete or anonymise personal data within 90 days, except where law requires longer retention (for example, financial records).
Parents may request deletion of their own account at any time by contacting support — see Section 9.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS / TLS), encryption at rest, role-based access controls, secure cloud hosting, and regular security reviews.
No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@kite-edu.com.
8. Your rights
Subject to local law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country

9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify users via the apps or by email.
